Gov. Sanford Announces Inaugural Committee

Bill and Linda Stern of Columbia to Serve as Inaugural Chairs

Columbia, S.C. - Mark Sanford today announced the members of his committee tasked with organizing his 2nd and the state's 94th inaugural. Bill and Linda Stern of Columbia will chair the committee, with Laura Hewitt of Charleston, Hayne Hipp of Greenville, and the Rev. Charles B. Jackson, Sr., pastor of Brookland Baptist Church in Columbia, serving as honorary chairs. The inaugural committee will be responsible for planning the day and will help raise private dollars to pay for the day's events.

"I want to thank Bill, Linda, Laura, Hayne and Reverend Jackson and everyone else on the committee for agreeing to give of their time and talents to make these events a success," Gov. Sanford said. "Inauguration day serves as an important marker for laying down our course for change over the next four years, and I'll appreciate their efforts over the coming weeks in putting together the day's events, which are all about thanking folks across the state for their help and support."

The First Family's schedule for January 10th, 2007 is as follows:

9:00 a.m. -- Inaugural Prayer Service -- Trinity Episcopal Cathedral

11:00 a.m. -- Inauguration Ceremony -- Statehouse South Steps

2 p.m. to 4 p.m. -- First Family's Open House at Governor's Mansion

6 p.m. -- Inaugural Barbeque -- S.C. Farmers Market Watermelon Shed.

The ticket price for the inaugural barbeque is $60 per person, with children under 12 being admitted for free. In 2003, the cost per person was $50.
